Hey girlies, I’m 23weeks and so last night I had some bright red blood and ended up coming into triage, but they’ve said I’ve got a low lying placenta? The bleeding has stopped but they said it’ll more likely start again? Will I still go full term? I work as a carer and most of my 13 hour shifts are strenuous heavy lifting, and constant on my feet, should I stop working?

Most likely it will move, I had one in my last pregnancy that was partially covering but this pregnancy it's completely covering. I've got to have an internal scan at 32 weeks to check if it's moved, I had this last time too.
I had to be induced last time at 38 weeks because of other things, it wasn't anything to do with the placenta. I'd speak to your work just so they are aware and if you have any more bleeding, go straight back to triage x

did you have any bleeding in the pregnancy aswell? Just hoping it does move x

👋 hey! Complete placenta previa here. Had three admissions with three small bleeds in the last three weeks. Currently 25+6. Some people bleed and others don't we are just unlucky! I've been told to call triage with any amount of bleeding 'cause small bleeds can precede bigger bleeds. I've also been told Some people still carry to term, others need early delivery but they will want to keep baby cooking as long as poss and as long as they can keep you both safe. I've been given lighter duties at work as heavy lifting is contraindicated have a chat with work about reviewing your maternity risk assessment / referral to OH. Xx

Hey,
I’ve also got a low lying placenta and I’m a carer too.
I know my work wouldn’t take it seriously so when I found out at 20 weeks, I went to my GP and got a doctors note to say that due to my condition, they would have to make some changes, no heavy lifting, pulling or using heavy equipment.
Make sure you talk to your manager and check your risk assessment is up to date.
I’ve had to go on maternity leave early this week (25+5) because they kept putting me with clients that didn’t fit my requirements (final straw was a client with Covid) and kept making it feel like my fault because they were understaffed and had no one else to do the job.
If you are planning to carry on working I would make sure that you have your GP ready to back you up and make sure your manager is aware, and really stick to it yourself.
I know it’s tempting to do something quickly, like move a hoist out the way etc. when you’re busy.
but if you’re already experiencing bleeding I wouldn’t take any chances x

I faced something similar, I had a bleed around 16-17 weeks in my previous pregnancy they said it was low laying placenta. Went for my 20 weeks scan and everything looked normal, at 21 weeks i started bleeding bright red, and discharge with blood tinges would happen through out the day, took a trip to triage & ended up being 3cm dilated. My cervix was open & weak. Please have them check your cervix because mine didn’t check it once until i was already dilated!
I was put on bed rest with steroids and alot of drugs to try keep the baby in for as long as possible at 23 weeks he was born,
I would highly recommend NOT lifting heavy things during pregnancy, avoid going up and down the stairs when possible, try take alot of pelvic rest when possible

Don't know if anyone else was told this but medical staff advised me to avoid penetrative sex and strenuous exercise in case it caused bleeding, I also have a low lying placenta and am going back for a 32 week scan which you deffo need xx
