Swollen ankle

Hi girls I had my little girl on Monday (induced & epidural) and I still have swelling in my ankles, I asked the midwife today and she said it’s normal but the left is getting worse . I’m already a panicker :( is this normal?

Yes completely normal ! My left was always bigger too! Mine took around a week to get better but I still wear my compression stockings daily and keep them elevated

Have you checked your blood pressure? Or checked your leg for any hard lumps/bruises? Can be normal, especially with induction and epidural as you would’ve had a drip so increasing water content, but if it’s getting worse or you’re feeling sick otherwise, it could be a symptom of postpartum preeclampsia or blood clot. If you’re worried, there should be a maternity triage you can contact who can give advice to put you at ease x

I had the same experience after I had my daughter but it went away on its own
The midwife told me it’s normal. It’s due to body fluids and water retentions after pregnancy

I had this, it just takes a little time for the water retention to disperse xxx

Get yourself some compression socks! Helped my feet so much after birth as they were huge!

For my 1st (had epidural then emergency C-section) I kept being swelling like that for 2-3weeks ! They said it was normal, I was checked everything was ok :/
For my 2nd (planned C-section) I kept being like that for 3days only

What helps is keeping the compression socks all the time, try to elevate your feet, if you have a partner or someone at home to help you if they can do a massage from the feet to the leg it helps
Drink plenty of water, try to move around as much as possible
Hope you gonna feel better soon!!
