If you choose Chippenham birth Centre, you will be cared for by the Hummingbird team who are the community team that support women birthing in the birth centres or at home.
It’s a small supportive group of midwives who can offer great continuity of care.
They also have a meet the Midwife session once a month on a Monday evening and lots of open evenings at Frome and Chippenham birth Centres too, so extra opportunities to meet the team that might look after you during your birth.
If at any point you want to or need to transfer to the RUH for extra pain relief or more medical care then you can, but providing your Pregnancy and labour are straightforward then birthing your baby supported by Community midwives has been proven to reduce your chances of unnecessary intervention and increase your chances of having a more positive experience.
I run a free Pregnancy café on Friday mornings in Bath, it’s a great place to meet other pregnant women and ask questions such as this to the hosts x

when and where is your pregnancy cafe?
