Parents kissing their children on the lips was a very normal thing when I was growing up and I never really thought anything of it. Now as an adult with a child of my own, I cringe at the thought of kissing my daughter on the lips. It just seems so intimate and like it should be reserved for spouses. What's everyone's thoughts?

I think up to a certain age it’s fine

I think the age of the child makes it either weird or not weird.

I still kiss my dad on the lips 🤷🏼♀️

I think is wierd always have . I feel like that’s for couples only

Definitely depends on the age. My son is learning to give kisses right now so he doesn’t really give us an option 😂 he just smiles really big and goes for our mouth 💀
Thinking of grown people kissing their somewhat grown kids on the mouth makes me think of that show Animal Kingdom with the grandma…. Disgusting. 🤢

I think it’s only weird if you can only perceive it as an intimate act. Lots of cultures however kiss on the lips just as a way of sharing/showing affection without intimacy- same goes for cuddling/snuggling. I plan to continue doing all these things until my kids ask me to stop.

I remember as a young kid probably 4/5 when a family member tried to kiss me on the lips and I was so uncomfortable but didn't know how to explain it. I won't put my kid in that position.
To be clear the adult was completely safe and never tried to hurt me or any other kid to my knowledge. I just didn't want to kiss them. I knew at that young age it felt weird for me.

I don’t think any age is appropriate. That’s weird. Plus we carry so many germs. I don’t care how clean you are. Don’t Kiss them on the lips🤢

My mom was and still is a kisser, she respected us when we decided we preferred cheek kisses and switched to that and I plan to do the same with my kids. My boys love giving kisses so I'm going to happily accept them as long as they want to

Kissing is not weird in a lot of parts of the world. I don't see an issue. My kids came out of my body.

I have thought it was weird in the past but I'm from a family who doesn't show any physical affection to each other. I no longer think it's weird as long as the child is ok with it of course. But I wouldn't initiate a kiss on the lips myself, my son has kissed me on the lips. But at 3.5 years he's now decided he doesn't like kisses at all 😅

they sit on my lap or at my feet as I poop. But kisses are too far? Forget that! Imma kiss my babies until they don’t want me to

Smack dab right on the lips every time until they choose not to

I think there is nothing more intimate than me growing those kids inside me so I kiss them all over

My toddler literally goes for my lips everytime she tries to kiss me and if I move so she kisses my cheek, she’ll keep going until she gets my lips lol Doesn’t bother me, but I don’t intentionally try to kiss her on the lips. I don’t think it’s weird unless you make it weird.
I think if you don’t like it, then it’s time to start talking personal boundaries with your little one.
I'm seeing a lot of people say they will kiss their kids on the lips as long as their kids are okay with it and I think that's making me realize why I'm so uncomfortable with kissing my kids on the lips. When I was growing up my mom would make me kiss all my family members (even ones I barely knew) on the lips even into my teenage years. If I said I didn't want to she would get mad at me or tell me not wanting to kiss someone meant I didn't love them so I would usually just stay quiet and give the kiss even though it made me uncomfortable. Maybe if my mom wouldn't have forced and guilted me into kissing people when I was younger, I wouldn't have as much of an issue with it as I do now.

I thought it was weird when my parents did it with me, and I will not do it with my kids
Just bc I think it weird however doesn’t mean I’ll judge you for doing it. We just don’t in our family

My kids run to me and pout, lip kisses are normal from mommy only!

I still kiss my mum on the lips and I’m 31!

Tongue kiss is reserved for spouses lol, lip kiss we can do w our kids if they’ve been brought up doing that. I still kiss my 6yr boy on the lips. When that will change, we’ll that’s up to him. I also cheek kiss all my friends when I see them, some men too. In France they do a double cheek kiss, men to men too

Nope, I think anyone that thinks it is weird is just off. Why would it be weird? Unless your thinking of it in an odd way, which again makes you look weird. 🤷♀️

No because cavities can transfer especially if that person giving a kiss just ate 🙄 I’m good like also diseases 🤨 no, I never kissed anyone growing up I was given raspberries on the stomach at most at a very young age

I think It depends how old. I have a 2 and 1 year old and we kiss on the lips. I find it weird that people find it weird 😅

I feel odd about it myself but don't judge others. That's your baby! My son will try to kiss me on the lios and I will turn away 🫠

I personally feel weird when it happens even on accident (like if I go to kiss my son's chubby cheek and he turns his head). Others can raise their kids the way they want, but I'm not gonna kiss my kids' lips.

My step daughter tries to kiss me on the mouth. But I’m not all that comfortable with it and she’s always sick from something and I don’t want to catch it. She kisses her mom on the mouth so I’ve told her that she should only kiss her lips.
Dad doesn’t mind whatever she’s comfortable with. I just told him he better not get me sick either lol
I stopped kissing my mom on the mouth when I became interested in kissing boys around my teen years.

On the lips I won’t do but won’t judge if parents do it but I will kiss my baby everywhere else on there face and stomach but that’s it and won’t judge parents as long as they don’t have std (herpes) as that can spread from lips to lips or whatever

I have always thought it was weird and I still give my toddler kisses on the cheek but they will often give me a kiss back on the lips xx

It's weird because it usually ends in raspberry kisses with my 3yr old And I don't need his spit on my mouth

I ask my son can I have a kiss and I accept whatever I am given. Sometimes he grabs my face and gives me a kiss on the lips and other times he will kiss my cheek.
I don't find it weird for kids and parents but I do have an awareness of it as I don't want him to think he can kiss other people on the lips like it's normal. Other kids in his nursery might not like it and I wouldn't want him kissing another adult on the lips, even family.

I always thought it was weird cause that's not something my family or anyone I knew did. Kissing was only seen or talked about in a romantic way. But my partner grew up kissing his parents on the lips so I've changed my views on it. Obviously it's only for young kids and only if they are comfortable with it, I think my partner only did it until he was like 5 or 6.Also I saw a comment say something along the lines of if you think that's weird then you're weird because you're thinking of it in an odd way" and all I have to say to that is when you grow up constantly hearing about child predators, yeah it kind of makes you think about that stuff when it comes to literally everything... I'm constantly worried about child predators, I don't think that makes me weird I think that makes me a good mom but to each their own 🤷♀️

Not over the age of 3, mostly cause my boy won’t let me wipe his face sometimes and I don’t want kisses even then. We try for cheek kisses but there was a time at like 18 months he just wanted to peck on the lips and I’d try and teach him to do it on cheeks but sometimes 🤷♀️ it’s very sweet. And yes, sometimes when I go to kiss my four month old and he swings his head I miss 😂🤷♀️ it’s not the end of the world but we don’t do it on purpose.

My grandparents kissed me on the lips until the day they died. I wish my could give my grandparents a kiss on the mouth again. ♥️
I’ll kiss my son as long as he will let me.
It’s weird to have strong feelings about the way other people show affection towards their own children.
