Cow and Gate a few pounds cheaper than the other formula options, is there an actual reason for this ? I genuinely don't know

I used Aptamil last pregnancy but it's got a hell of a lot more expensive, opinions / experiences please 😊

Nutritionally all formulas in the uk legally need to meet specific requirements so theres nothing wrong with using cow & gate its all just down to what works best for you and your baby, you could always try it and if baby doesn’t get on with it swap to aptamil in the future x

I used Aldi stuff last time

They are both made by the same company, so not much difference I guess. I noticed Aptamil wasn't dissolving as much as Cow &gate, so we sticked to C&G

We used cow and gate for our first and will definitely be using it again for our second. I cant compare it to other brands as it worked well for us and we never had the need to change. We just knew that it was one of the more readily available brands in most supermarkets, plus we loved the travel sized ready made bottles if we were out and about for the day. As others have said, its a legal requirement for all formulas to be nutritionally complete, and its been around years, so must be okay! Xxx

Used aptamil last time and will be using again, the price hasn’t really changed since I last used for my son. Aptamil advance is a lot more expensive so make sure you’re not mistaking it for that?

Aptamil and cow and gate are the same company .. legally they’re all nutritionally the same x

Nutritionally they all have to meet set requirements...

If I remember correctly back in 2018 the different between Apta and C&G was one had something meat based and one had something veg based. I can't remember what exactly and what way around it was. If that's something that matters to you then it's worth looking into the specifics with each brand. If that doesn't bother you then, I'd say either A) go with what's more affordable or B) go with what's more accessible in your local area xx

I used SMA with my first. This time I’ve used cow and gate purely because it was cheaper. Baby has been fine, no issues at all ☺️ I’m definitely an advocate for going for the cheapest, most readily available option 👌🏻

How interesting, thank you everyone! I was just having a look today at my local options and it is fairly limited it's a smaller Tesco store, only seems to have cow and gate, Aptamil and SMA.. so I need to opt for one of these really for convenience reasons. I will try the cheaper one first and see how bub gets on for sure, obviously would rather pay less if possible 😊

Should I be concerned or am I overthinking?

My little boy is 15 months old, he’s recently taken his first steps and he says mamma and dadda and baba (he has said these for months) we’ve filled out the paperwork for his 12-14 month review and it looks like he isn’t meeting many of his milestones.

He doesn’t copy actions, point, clap etc. He doesn’t react when being spoken to, or to his name. He actively avoids eye contact.

He was so unresponsive to sound that we just had his hearing tested concerned he was deaf. They found that he could hear so he is just choosing not to react to any noises or sounds.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with their little ones? Should I be raising this with the health visitor and ask to be assessed for neurodivergent issue or a social communication problem like autism?

I don’t want to just slap a label on him, but I do feel that there are real concerns. All opinions welcome!!

Routines?

When did you start to introduce your baby’s routine? Do they just have a night routine or full day routine? Wondering when I should start this e.g naps at the same time everyday.

Any routines you have that work for you, please let me know them with timestamps. my baby is 6 weeks and just wondering when we should start them?

Does anyone else’s baby spit up breastmilk but not formula?

I’m seriously considering seeing a lactation consultant because I don’t understand why he can’t hold down breastmilk but can formula. I use soy formula since I’ve used it with my daughter and I’m thinking it might be due to not getting milk coming in for a few days so I had no choice but to give him formula, but now even if I take breaks in between feeding him breastmilk to burp or try to mix breastmilk and formula, he spits it up sooo much. I’m ready to just give him just formula because I’m worried about him not eating enough

Bed time tips for 8 week old

So I literally cannot get my 8 week down to sleep before 11:30pm every night no matter how early we start our routine. We tend to do bath every second night but every night consists of feed, up to bed, into pjs, book, feed to sleep. We could start this routine at 7 and it would still be the case of not selling til 11:30.

She doesn’t nap during the day well, we get a 30 minute in the morning, and a 1 hour in the afternoon only if I’m out the house. She’s never distressed when she’s awake all that time, quite the thing being nosey and having cuddles. She’s EBF and her feeds all through the day are LONG and last from 30-45 mins each feed.

Any tips/advice recommended on how to get to bed earlier or just how to get her to sleep in general.
