Water

Does anyone have any tips on how to get baby to sip water from a cup? My baby is 7 months old and doesn’t drink from cup or with straw she prefers water with a spoon..

We have had to try a load of different sippy cups. I would keep trying. At this age they need to learn how the cup operates, some by sucking, some by biting etc etc. I don't think my firdt got it until around 9 months truly. My almost 7mo doesn't drink a lot but I always offer it and he gets some water out by half the time dribbles down him. X

We started with an open cup - it was super messy at first then he got the hang of it. A friend recommended getting them to try it in the bath first. We then moved onto a really cheapo sippy from Boots that he gets along with so we’ve just stuck with it x

We started with a mug 😂 Tried with a straw but she wasn’t getting the hang of it but she always tried to steal my coffee in the morning (still does) so I got a mug out and tried her with water in it and she took it really well.
We have since swapped to a leakproof bite proof trainer cup (munchkin brand) but she will still happily take from an open cup. We only swapped because she can do the munchkin cup by herself whereas I wouldn’t trust her with an open cup 😬😂 she spilt enough down her when we had control of it lol

We have our son in a Montessori preschool (since 14 mos) and they drink from an open cup. We have used straws at home but he can drink out of any open container which is nice. I would simply put the spoons away and say you don’t have one right now. They will get the hang of a straw in a couple of days with consistent use.
