My husband and I are due in April. We don’t have family around so we’re slowly stocking up on things like diapers and wipes. Lately it’s been a lot of wipes because we’re unsure what brand of diapers is better or if we should try to get different brands to see what works better when the kiddo gets here. Any opinions on what brand of diapers is good or should we just get different brands? We try to buy things we know we will need to stock up on each paycheck so it won’t be as much of a stressor right after birth.

Definitely diaper balm, a nose picker for their boogers, socks, bath essentials etc etc but for diapers. I only use Huggies !! but if they don’t fit your baby anymore. You can trade In a box unopened for an exchange

For diapers we just use the Costco brand. Get one of each box. Don’t buy a bunch in one size. Cause some kids barely wear Newborns or 1 etc etc.

I agree with the diaper balm!! We use the earth mama and it lasts a while because a little goes a long way!! Every time target had a promotion where you buy so many diapers or baby essentials you get a gift card we did that and we just saved all the gift cards for the next time! We also saved all of our receipts for the diapers so we could exchange if needed! We only used pamper swaddlers! We use the Costco wipes because you get a lot and they’re a better deal!!

I know Target was getting strict about their exchange/return policy but I could be wrong! We never had to exchange diapers luckily so I don’t know for sure about the exchange policy

What Jordan said. Don’t buy a ton of NB’s. Try at least 1 box of all your options to figure out which you like. Keep receipts. Might be able to exchange unopened boxes for right sizes etc.

If you are near Aurora, CO and want girl clothes I have 1 or 2 garbage bags full of girl baby clothes 0-9 months. :) happy to give them to you.

Someone bought me these “ Pura” diapers for my baby shower . I love these things ! Im guessing they dont have Sodium polyacrylate in them so they dont swell up . But diapers for sure depend on what works for your baby .

If you get diaper balm I recommend Aquaphor. It safe for sensitive skin and it’s cheap. Comes in an ointment tube or as a stick.
Also everyone has diaper preferences that they swear by. It might help to get those small packages and try a few brands. I prefer pampers swaddlers. But whatever brand a good tip is if they are closer to the top of the recommended weight range, sizing up will save you some blowouts. Also when they start sleeping for longer intervals at night go for the next size up of what you use during the day.
Interestingly, you should stock up on pacifiers. You will always be either losing them or dropping them and then having to clean them so you need backups. Lactation will tell you to hold off until 1 month or once they are latching well.
Insurance will pay for a breast pump if you are planning to pump so your partner can help with feeding or to use when you go back to work if either situation applies to you.

Also the hospital will have supplies for both postpartum care (pads, disposable briefs, spray bottle to clean your private area, witch hazel wipes and pain relief spray) and cradle cap (baby shampoo, sponge with soft bristles on one side and a fine tooth comb). They should have plenty of supply for you in the room but you can always ask for more. I’ve also never had any nurse explain that all the disposable products (basically everything except the linens) are meant for you to take home or they throw it out for infection control reasons. That will save you a little money.
One hospital gave me a Velcro swaddler when I discharged while the second hospital for my youngest didn’t. I recommend buying that ahead of time because why do I have to wait till discharge? And you need a few to rotate through anyway. They sleep so much better with it usually (there’s always exceptions) and you don’t have to worry about learning the technique or your little one squirming out of it and waking up

Totally agree with everything that said. Except for one thing. I would advise against stocking up on pacifiers! My oldest, my son used them like crazy and we did end up buying a fair amount of them (but not a TON. We were just fine with the handful we had though). So, I had the same mindset as you all and bought ahead everything that I could, so for round #2, we were having a girl. So of course, the pacifiers that my son loved had all of these cute little designs on them so the ones I got my son were all ‘blue’ themed. I bought into the whole gender color thing for them (and just about ONLY them) though, so I caught wind that the company who made the pacifiers my son loved was having a saa a sale and I jumped right in on that and bought a TON of the ’pink’ themed pacifiers. My daughter oldest daughter wanted nothing to do with a pacifier. She ended up finding a little stuffed cat head/torso thing that’s kind of sewn into a little tiny blanket like that’s its lower body, (contd.)

and she sucked on the corner if that for 2 years. 🤦🏻♀️ Ended up with about 8 of those of varying animals, which I bought all before she decided that she would ONLY accept the cat…… which of course, was discontinued. So loads of fun to (after an exhaustive search!) to find a couple of them an Etsy for like $35 each (they were like $8 each originally!).
Anyway, I figured, ok, well, I’ll save the pacifiers for if we do ever have a third (I had 2 very traumatic birth experiences). We still had 5 frozen embryo’s, so there was always a chance still. Then, we ended up spontaneously pregnant with another baby! Another girl!…….. Who ended up not having any interest in any pacifiers whatsoever. In fact, no loveys at all! Which I discovered after I THOUGHT that she had shown some signs of favoritism towards a Winnie the Pooh stuffie (Eeyore is my spirit animal!) so I bought like 3 or 4 of those! 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I will say that my advice is that once you are CONVINCED that baby has taken a liking to (contd.)

a particular lovie, then, and ONLY THEN, go and buy several more of them!!! My son has two blankets that he (still to this day!) loves, but in particular the smaller one. He has three of the smaller one, but you have to remember to rotate them bc all out so that they all wear at the same/an even rate. Otherwise, baby is going to have a well loved lovie that gets lost or has to get laundered and you’ll try to give them the ‘replacement’ that you bought them, but baby is going to refuse to accept this pristine condition lovie, because it’s obviously not THEIR long lost lovie! For my son’s small blankie, I always had one in the washer, one currently in use and one ‘on deck.’ so we were always prepared!

My last bit of advice is that Costco diapers ARE the big brand diapers. I forget if they’re Pampers (I think, but not positive!) or what, but you can look it up. Same manufacturing plant and everything. Only difference is what box they go into. And, the price that you ultimately pay!
Also! In the warehouse, Costco only sells up to like size 3 or 4 I think it is, but if you go online, they do sell bigger sizes!!! My son potty trained himself at age 2.5 (no joke, he’s never had an accident. Not one single accident. Ever!!!). My daughters both took a little bit longer, and a lot more effort! So they ended up
In bigger sizes than what Costco had in warehouse. I’m SO thankful that I discovered that they DO carry the bigger sizes, you just have to go to Costco.com to order them (with free shipping!).

I wish someone had told me to get a Costco membership earlier. You save A TON on diapers and wipes. They have a variety of wipes and they carry Kirkland and Huggies, love them both. They carry bigger sizes in the warehouse. My girl is 7 months and wear size 5 diapers and a box of wipes lasts me a WHILE for $20. Highly recommended.
