How many vests/sleepsuits does/did your baby go through a day for the first few months?

We're trying to find the balance on how many vests and sleepsuits to buy. We want to do the baby's washing probably no more than every 3 days to avoid overwhelm.

Google etc say they can go through 3-6 a day, would 20 be a good number to aim for so we have a couple spare whilst the washing is on? Everything online seems to suggest buying 6-10 but that seems like we'd constantly be washing then!

I was only needing to change baby once a day so it really depends on your baby! I would have one sleep sacks spare in the same tog in case something happened in the night but other than that it was fine

I only need to change mine once. But he’s now 6 months and I’m having to change him more due to lots of dribbling and food getting everywhere due to weaning

My baby was quite sicky so we needed a lot. He also pooped so much and they all seemed to leak no matter which nappies we used. I've kept about 15/20 things in each size as that seemed to be what we'd actually go through.

We used 2/3 outfits a day... It really depends on how often you'll do washing. I've got 5 of each in newborn for my second and plan on approx 20 in 0-3... Purely because it's hard to know how big they'll come out. It's also possible to get some delivered if you have to little. A friend of mine had a baby that was in 3-6 at 8 weeks old too! But my baby wasn't very sicky and generally didn't get too messy until I introduced solids.

For first month I have no idea as most the time it was too hot so baby was just in a nappy. Month 2&3 id say most days we were changing him from sick atleast once a day until I started using bibs instead of muslins and then most days he wouldn’t need changing (would just change ready for bed) and he’s just turned 4 months and we’re now changing 2-3 times a day cos of wee, tryna work out where we’re going wrong because his nappy will be pretty fresh and he somehow wees out the side of it😂

As above, it really depends on the baby, I was only having to change once a day and the odd occasion twice - otherwise I didn’t go through as much as people recommended x

We have 10 of everything and do washing once a week. Never had any issues.

Obviously one for day and one for night. Maybe some if they have a blow out or feel sick. My son peed through his nappy a lot for some reason the first few months.

In the newborn stage around 3 outfits a day, plus about 4 bibs and a few muslins. I did washing every other day for about the first month

I did 2 weeks worth for vests and baby grows, so even when the washing piled up we had plenty and even kept some as spares permanently in her nappy bag and swapped them as needed. my little one was born in spring though, so maybe a winter baby will need more for layering. When it came to weaning I fed out baby in just a nappy, which helped massively with the washing overwhelm

2-3 a day for sure
We had a lot of newborn/first size/up to one month which he grew out of in one or two weeks so onto 0-3 which we have been using for 3 weeks now and will be continuing to do so for a while
I’d get more sleepsuits than vests
I wouldn’t bother with trousers personally yet
I think 20 is a good shout personally
And lots of muslins
