My baby is 4 months old and we often have the television on in the living room, and he stares at the screen. Is this bad?

I wouldn’t think of it as bad nessarily, I would just try to break it while you can . I was bad about that that to, when they get older it’s hard to break them from it

Well it’s neither good nor bad, depends on what you want.
Some parents don’t want any screen time so they choose forgo tv. Some allow babies to watch PG tv that they’re watching but no children tv, some let their children watch children tv but not have a personal device like a tablet.
Research does show that children don’t really need screens for at least 2 years. But that’s not feasible for some parents as tv does keep children entertained so parents can do things.
Babies at this age can see pretty well so they might enjoy the movement however, it’s probably best for their eyes to give them breaks and do other things to entertain them due to the light on the tv and overstimulation form whatever colours and sounds coming from it.
It’s best you decide what you want ☺️

My baby girl is 4 months old and I have her watch Miss Rachel while I do things around the house but I try to only limit it to 1-2 hours a day but breaking it in 30 min increments throughout the day.

The only thing I'd say to watch out for is them being overstimulated by it, at this age they're just being terribly nosey though
