Shy child

Sorry for the long post, my 2.5 YO daughter is pretty shy/reserved and tends to keep herself to herself at playgroups/play dates etc. She does go to nursery and talks about playing with people there but I don’t know how much of that is true. Yesterday I took her to a play date and she didn’t play with the other children at all, then on the way back she asked if next time I could ‘help her talk to them’ (I could’ve cried in the street! 🥺). Of course I said u would and really, really want to help, but I’m not sure of the best way without it being overbearing and letting her figure things out for herself. Does anyone have any ideas/experience with this?
