Please go for you smear, tell the nurse your worries and they will reassure you, bring the kids with you!

You shouldn’t have had one during pregnancy which they shouldn’t have gone ahead with, but please make sur you book in for it. A short couple of seconds having it done is so much better than anything going unnoticed. Take the kids with you, some doctors have toys and things for the the Children to play with in their rooms xx

I know its not always ideal to have to take little ones to appointments but most people understand that single mums are going ti turn up with kiddos.

Also you can ask if you can do your own smear test depending on where you are. I know i Australia you have the option for them to do it or do a self swab. Obviously them doing it is more accurate because they can make sure they're swiping all the right spots but it's better than nothing.

I would also mention your previous experience because they shouldn't hurt but they might be able to be extra gentle and take it slow to help ease your worried

Sounds weird but to help you relax try wiggling your toys focusing on something else did with my cervical check which I have only had one it helped

I’m so sorry you’ve had this experience. A smear should not have been done during pregnancy. Please book your smear, if you’re in the UK they have changed to a 5 year recall for negative smears if all previous smears are negative so fingers crossed it’ll then mean you won’t have one for a while. I’d also recommend visiting sexual health for a smear test, they do them very regularly so are experienced and understanding of your anxieties. Also bring your children with them and they can get someone else in the room to keep an eye on them whilst you are being cared for. I wish you all the best
