Hey ladies! Is anyone dealing with cystic acne? I still got 4 more months to go in my pregnancy. Just when I have got over the extreme fatigue and heartburn from my 1st trimester, I’m now dealing with acne on my jawline. It’s on both sides of my jawline, big, dark, painful and makes me so self conscious that I need to cover it up with make up when I go see people. I have tried Azelaic acid and benzoyl peroxide, that didn’t help much. I have been to a GP, unfortunately he couldn’t recommend me anything new as it’s not pregnancy safe. I also have an upcoming appointment with a dermatologist but I think they’ll just say the same thing. It’s really got me down. I hope this all settles once I’ve given birth but really wish there was a better way to manage it.

I actually just went to the dermatologist yesterday. I have cystic acne suddenly but mostly on and in my ears! I didnt know i could get cystic acne on and in ears. Anyways hes putting me on tretinoin and benzyl peroxide wash. I know you cant use the tret right now (I'm 6 weeks pp) but maybe continue the peroxide wash? He was also going to put me on spironolactone. He said it was safe for breastfeeding but im not entirely sure for pregnancy. Im sorry youre dealing with this too. Mine just popped up after giving birth. I had this after my second amd they put me on topical clindamyosin and it fucked up me and my daughters gut microbiome. I dont recommend jt.

LED face masks can help a lot with pregnancy acne! Do your research though most people say it’s safe but it’s up to each person. I have a lot of friends who have used them with no issues and same with me and it cleared my skin up in a week!

I’ve dealt with cystic acne on and off my whole adult life. It’s so frustrating:(
Sometimes you just have to move through that particular phase for it to run its course.
Hang in there! 🫂
