Moms of twins- do you have the twin genes?

Had the twin genes, no twins 😅

I technically have twin genes but didnt know until we researched it when we found out, as it has skipped 3 generations and previously skipped 2 generations. I am now having twins as my first pregnancy, fraternal twins 😊

No.twin in family at all. Sister had twins (identical)

Identical twins are just a random chance, nothing to do with genetics, fraternal twins are genetic. My dads a fraternal twin, neither me nor my sister have had twins

No twins running in the family, had fraternal twins 9 months ago but more chance of hyper ovulation over the age of 35 so I think that’s how I got so lucky

There’s not necessarily a “twin gene,” there’s only a hyper-ovulation gene that causes more than one egg to release each cycle. So having an increased chance of (fraternal) twins from a genetic perspective all depends on whether the mother carried this gene.

In other words, a fraternal twin man has no increased chance of fathering twins compared to a non-twin man. He can however pass the gene on to his daughter if he carries it. That’s why people say twins “skip a generation.”

Identical twins are always random chance and nothing can increase their chances, even if one or both parents is an identical twin.

My mom and dad never had twins in either of their Mexican or Salvadoran sides. No past twins, or history ever. Then my mom had my twin brothers (fraternal). Then she had me and my twin sister (also fraternal). After she had us, a few more started to pop up on our Mexican side.
