Age gap for baby number 2

Our October baby was our first baby and we’re thinking about when to try for baby number 2. Ideally we don’t want a massive age gap but also want our little boy to be old enough to help and get involved so he doesn’t feel left out. We were thinking of trying around April / May time and if it works in our favour there will be a 2 year and a couple of months age gap.

Has anyone had 2 kiddies with a similar age gap and how have you found it? Has the first baby been able to have a bit of understanding and been able to help with the new baby in some way?

My 1st baby was born on October 26th 2022. And my 2nd baby was born on October 29th 2024. So 2 years, 3 days apart🙃 I absolutely love the age gap, there so close and watching there bond is amazing! We didn't try to have them that close together but it happened so fast for us fortunately and I honestly wouldn't change a thing🥰

My first was September 2022 and my second October 2024, I didn’t plan it that way as it took a while to get pregnant first time (typical). I love their age gap, especially as they get older but has been hard at times but I would say that was more in the first 0-8 months of the second being born. It gets easier as they get older and they are obsessed with each other 🥰

I found my 2 year 3 months age gap incredibly difficult I wish I’d of waited maybe another year. My son has a speech delay and we’re struggling with potty training, his sister also needs time and attention so it’s tough. But I do love them together and they’re besotted by eachother xxx

Pretty much the same as my first born was very late August 2022 and second October 2024. Literally the same scenario it took us a while to get pregnant with our first. But with my second it literally was the first attempt after we said we’d start trying. So didn’t intend to have them so close to age as naturally thought it would take just as long to fall pregnant second time around. My eldest was 2 years (almost) 2 months when my second was born. My eldest adjusted very well to her and absolutely adores her sister. But it was very hard at the beginning. I would say up till the 10 month mark. My toddler was still very needy and reliant on me at the time and I had (still do) a very clingy second born. Coming out on the other end i can’t say I regret the closeness in age. But my personal experience I found it very hard and don’t want to sugar coat that. Saying that, it deffo gets easier as the youngest gets older and they practically play and entertain each other now

2.5 years between them and I found it the perfect age gap, but my daughter is pretty advanced and mature for her age, and I think if she was a typical 2.5 year old it would’ve been pretty challenging, but I got lucky! X
