Same name as old friend's child?

I've been really struggling with boys names but I have a name i really like. The only problem is an old friend used the same name for hers. Me and her drifted apart - we are amicable but dont talk. Her son is about 11 but I never really knew him or grew an attachment to him so dont have that association with him and the name... but still wondering if it would be weird?

the association is so distant, it's not weird at all.

I'm still friends with somebody who took my favourite boy name. It wouldn't stop me using it except that my partner has a nephew with the same name. I think it only matters with relatives, not friends

Girl, my friend named her daughter my daughter’s middle name. 😭 I was a little offended but it’s all good. I will live. I think it’s sweet that you care though.
