Work/risk assessment
What does everyone do for work and is there any risks involved? I work as a cleaner in a super market, it’s a lot of being on my feet, using chemicals, driving floor machines, shelf cleaning, pulling out produce totes, fridges, cleaning toilets, rolling the milk out etc.
They haven’t done a risk assessment yet despite me asking and I’m 20 weeks now.
My partner keeps saying I should refuse to pull the fridges out, roll the milk out and do the produce however it is my job so if I refuse there’s nothing else left to do.
I did however have a lot of pains the other day after driving the floor machine around and putting it back.
So I have tried to avoid driving the floor machine as much as possible.
They were a lot better with me in my first pregnancy. I had risk assessment every 4 weeks and wasn’t even allowed to step onto a stool to clean shelves, this time around it’s just sort of “get on with it”
We also had no heating for 3-4 weeks!

They should definitely do a risk assessment for you, can you ask for it to be done soon?

Hi, this isn’t right at all! Employers must conduct a individual risk assessment as soon as they are informed of your pregnancy
I would recommend raising to them about your pain and asking for a risk assessment, possibly even in writing. If they refuse I would really recommend talking to HR
If they can’t mitigate risk, they have to offer you alternative employment with no effect on pay or changes to your contract. If this isn’t possible they need to suspend you medically with full pay.
I’m sorry you’re going through this it sounds really unfair!
