Does anyone enjoy spending time away from their babies/children?

💯. I went out with a long time friend without my kids recently. It was so overdue.

I didn’t for a long time but now they’re 3 and 1 and I love my mom days 😂

Now that he’s older, I can actually enjoy myself. I don’t enjoy that I am away from him but I can actually concentrate on what I’m doing instead of thinking about him the whole time

Avatar

Yep and not ashamed of it😂 they’re my world but boy oh boy am I happy when my village help and take them

I don’t think this should be controversial. Mothers are people. There is no shame with needing some alone time

Yes, I love them but I also love having a bit of time when I'm out when my mind isn't thinking 'oh, I need to change her, he hasn't had lunch yet... What about nap time.. omg she shouldnt be touching that.. was he just a bit rude? Am I over reacting? Are my children the loudest here? Oh man, I'm gonna have to wash all these clothes again now they've done that. Is she getting sick again? Did he use his manners? I haven't made enough effort to play with them today. Am I even listening to this conversation with this other adult? I've come to see them I have no idea what we're talking about'

So yeah, in short, I do enjoy the odd few hours off from the brain overload. I do not however enjoy extended periods. One night is plenty. Two my mind starts opening a whole new can of worms 😂

Honestly, I just wish I could switch it off sometimes.

I don’t think this should even be controversial. The questioning is not framed. Does everyone enjoy self care and time to yourself to recover think rest and thrive. Yes.

Why is that controversial?

Idk why it’s controversial, honestly. I love my baby with all my heart, but sometimes I need a break to be me and not mom. Or to deep clean bc it’s hard as hell doing it with a baby. My baby is 9 1/2 months. I have a history of depression and anxiety, so my boyfriend and I agreed she could stay at our parents from the beginning so neither one of us got burnt out or depressed. To be honest, I believe it’s the only reason I haven’t developed PPD. My daughter loves her grandparents and they love getting to spend time with her.

Constantly. I have to. As soon as they stopped nursing 🏃‍♀️ If I don’t get time away from them I will fall apart lol My husband sends me away to a hotel for two nights every month so that I can recharge, write, draw, get a facial, etc.

Not until I had my third and I desperately needed a break. Absence makes the heart grown fonder. It’s so important to get some adult time in, especially if you’re struggling and know it. A two hour break to go talk to my friend without kids can have me rejuvenated.

I only have 1 child and if I could be around him 99% of the time I would. But I'm still going to enjoy me time if I get it

Avatar

For the first couple of hours and then I start missing them

ALL THE TIME 😂

But I love coming back 🥰🥰

Of course! I love my family (husband and children) but I am my own person and it’s important to have a life separate from them.

You aren’t an extension of your kids - you’re an individual with her own interests and hobbies.

My husband and I are about to go on a vacay to DR 💃🏽 it will be the first time we are both away from the kids for more than a night. I’m excited but I’d be lying if I said I am nervous I’ll be too worried about what’s going on with the girls 😭 I don’t really want to think about it!

Love my family more than life itself but every mama needs a break!
