TFL- zone 1

I want to take baby (6 months old) into central London for a day out, I’ve not yet taken him into London on the train (or at all) any tips or advice?

If you have taken your lo, what precautions did you take? We’ll be travelling from zone 4 to zone 1.

Hey!! Ive been taking my LO in and out of london for ages. Definitely go off peak hours. Otherwise it can get busy and overwhelming for you.
Plan your route based on step free access at stations. Otherwise you'll be lugging the pram up and down steps.
Take plenty of snacks, milk and water.

Tbh the first time he fell asleep with the noise. Second time he was wide awake but didn't bother him at all. Both times I took ear defenders as precaution but didn't need it.
If I thought it was too loud, I covered his ears with my hands. But overall he was unbothered :) x

We took him to Oxford Street, regent Street and all those areas to see the lights. He loved it!!!

To avoid the noisy underground I used the Elizabeth line. A bit more pricey, but definitely a lot more comfortable in terms of space (if you travel with a pram). And definitely off peak.
Also, be aware, this time of year, central London is extremely crowded due to winter holidays.
I got overwhelmed and overstimulated during our stroll in central London the other day.

We live in central London so my daughter’s been on the tube from a few weeks old. She frequently sleeps through the journeys, the noise and movement seems to soothe her haha. The only annoying thing is the lack of lifts but I’ve genuinely never been stuck, there’s always at least one person offering to help with the buggy if there’s no lift or escalator or if their out of order. Either people are super friendly or they see me with my 4 year old, 2 year old and baby in buggy and think they need to help before I have some sort of breakdown haha. Just always aim for the far end of the platforms because the first and last carriage are always the quietest. Also don’t feel rude for pushing through, most people are in a rush and rude and will happily push through you and knock the buggy so you just have to be confident walking through the crowds x

However long you think it will take you, factor in another 20-30mins journey time - just in case! I've often had to miss tubes/bus during busy times as they get really packed. In some stations, the lifts take agessss to come or there is a queue etc.

Good luck, my baby loves being on trains/tubes. I hope yours will too!
