i’m due 11th jan 2026 with my baby girl. i had a sweep booked in yesterday (28th) and turns out the sweep wasn’t necessary because i had pre eclampsia that had come on suddenly. i was rushed into hospital to be monitored and they confirmed it. i’ve now been admitted onto the antenatal/postnatal ward and have had the pessary put in last night. i feel so overwhelmed with so many emotions right now i am all over the place. i did not expect to have pre eclampsia at all, i didn’t research into it enough or realise how common it is for first time mums and the symptoms. if anyone feels like sharing some kind and positive words to help uplift my spirit it would be greatly appreciated. i feel excited to meet my baby but also so scared and confused and sad in a way all at the same time.

What were your signs it was preeclampsia?

Can’t really help as I’m still waiting to have mine and I don’t currently have pre eclampsia but I’ve been part of a study monitoring it and I’m also back and forth to the triage unit because I show some symptoms but it’s not actually happened yet.
They have told me things to look out for are high blood pressure, swelling in the hands and face, I call them like twinkly lights in your eyes like you might have for a migraine.
Swollen feet and legs are also a symptom but I’ve found that this comes and goes and is mostly just water retention.
I’ve a friend who was also borderline with second one and had it with her first. She was induced both times and it all worked out absolutely fine. The main thing is they have identified it and are now managing it. I’m sure it’s super overwhelming and that its come as a shock but just try to keep super calm (easier said than done I know!) and look forward to meeting your beautiful baby really soon!

Same due date as me with my little boy!!! What symptoms did you have for pre eclampsia because I feel soo swollen at the moment and keep getting a strange pain in my shoulder on an evening but I’m just looking out for any signs. Good luck! So exciting regardless x
