Possible Preeclampsia

So I’m 22 weeks and I’m currently in process of doing a 24hr urine test to see if my protein levels have gone down. I’m freaking out. Can anyone tell me…if I have it does this mean I lose my baby?! What happens if I do have it?

Hey, firstly I’m so sorry you are having this anxiety. I’m based in the UK so the testing may be different here but I was formally diagnosed with pre eclampsia at 26 weeks but I was suspected from 20 weeks and put on blood pressure medication.

I won’t lie and say it was a breeze because pre eclampsia is tough. I was in for monitoring twice a week and ended up in hospital once before I did deliver. But there are many ways that it can be controlled for a while.

To begin with my pre eclampsia was mild and they managed to hold off delivery until 34 weeks. At this point it was severe and delivery was the only option.

At 34 weeks my baby did need extra help with feeding and breathing, but he is now 6 months and thriving.

While pre eclampsia is serious, there are things that can be done to keep it under control, it doesn’t mean that you will have an unsuccessful pregnancy ❤️

I hope you’re ok just rest up and be kind to yourself xx

Trying not to stress!! Stress can make preeclampsia worse. How is your blood pressure? I got preeclampsia at 34 week and had 2 appointments a week up until I delivered at 37 weeks. They will just watch you very closely to make sure your baby grows as much as possible but also you stay safe too! I had protein in my urine early on too and then again when I finally got diagnosed. Both time the protein resolves. You have to have more than one symptom to get diagnosed with pre-e. Protein can show up in your urine from dehydration. My BP was 160/100 pretty much my whole last trimester. Do you have any other symptoms? Were you possibly dehydrated?

I am very thankful for my OB! She’s been awesome for my two youngest so I know she’s good for this one too.
