Hello ladies, I was just wondering what everyone’s experience of natural birth at Stoke Mandeville Hospital has been like in the last year or two? I’m on the fence as to whether I should give birth there or at John Radcliffe where I had my first baby (which was a good experience).

I had a really good experience at Stoke Mandeville with my first in Nov 23. We had a birth centre birth there using the birthing pool. I am due to give birth with my second in March and I could go to Stoke or Royal Berkshire based on where I live and I have chosen to go back to Stoke because of my positive experience x

I’ve had 2 births at stoke since 22 and I honestly couldn’t fault them

I had a really good natural birth at Stoke Mandeville last July. I was on the ward due to pregnancy complications rather than the birth centre, but still had an amazing experience and all the midwives were wonderful
Thank you all for posting your experiences it’s been really helpful

Hey, I gave birth at Stoke two weeks ago and opted for there over JR because of the recent mat reports. Couldn’t fault the team there, spent 21 hours in labour and all of the midwives and doctors were fantastic

I’ll be honest I didn’t have the best experience with my birth last march there was a lot of miscommunications and some issues that I currently have a case over. Although this isn’t the regular and everyone seems to have had a good experience so don’t take this as me trying to put you off. All my care at stoke pregnancy wise was great before that

I never had any problems at stoke but the only thing I will say is when I was in the birth room there was dry blood on the metal parts of the bed and some dry blood in the bathroom. Other than that the staff are really great there
