Does raspberry leaf tea help? I’m starting at 38 weeks 🙈

I didn’t take it with my first and was 4 days over due and had an episiotomy with a third degree tear 😞🥴

It's one of those things, I think there will be mums who swear it worked for them and others who will say its a load of rubbish 😅
Personally, I like tea so I'll be drinking it - if it helps it helps, if not then it did no harm to try!
I didn't drink it last time and was 11 days overdue, I'm not saying it would've made baby come quicker but worth a try this time 🤣

that’s how I feel! The one from Holland and Barrett is so tasty!! I’ll be drinking it after pregnancy too 🤣

I started at the start of the first trimester and you should drink 3 cups a day??? Or something. I just 1 cup.

I did raspberry tea with both of mine one came at 38 weeks the other at almost 40 weeks. What did find good was dates x

Avatar

I think it worked for me but I started at 30 weeks and it’s something that takes time. It doesn’t bring on labour it strengthens your uterus to help shorten your labour so it likely won’t make a difference in when baby comes or if you tear again

Avatar

I drank it but ended up with emergency c section after a 26 hour labour haha
But it doesn’t harm so you might as well do it haha
It either will help or do nothing

I don’t think there’s any way to prove whether it does or doesn’t, I mean I drank it like crazy along with pineapple juice, ate dates and all that jazz and still had a 2nd degree tear. Doesn’t hurt to try though!

Personal opinion.. YES!

My first I didn't use it, was completely shut still at 41 weeks! Had a pessary and emergency section.

My second, religiously (only thing I did differently) I also did ball/woo hoo 🤣/exercise/dates etc with my first and my cervix was very soft a lot earlier!

Nothing works only walking to encourage baby to decsend and waiting for baby when they’re ready x

it’s in a pink box called ‘HOTTEA MAMA’ the final push 🌸

Avatar

I used hottea mama! And my midwife was shocked at how soft my cervix was the 2nd time around! It's a shame he didn't make an appearance by his deadline though and I chose a planned section!

Avatar

Nope. I ended up overdue, had a failed induction and had an emergency section. It does nowt lol but it’s a nice tea 🤷‍♀️

Its probably just luck, your genes and dads genes but i barely drank it with my first. Horrible birth. Drank it daily with my second and it was an amazing birth. BUT, my first was a hospital birth that i got sent home twice from with staff who honestly were horrible. 2nd was a home birth with me, husband and midwife. 2nd was amazing, calm and perfect. To the point within hours of birth i was saying i definitely wanted to have a 3rd and do another homebirth. I think the only things that actually matter is researching how to properly breath and push. Also extremely important everyone near you is relaxed and calm to help keep you relaxed. The more relaxed you are the easier it is. If you grunt or moan do low pitch noises, dont ever make high pitch noises. When you push listen to exaclty what your body wants.

I drank it religiously and found L&D pain pretty bearable overall and didn’t tear or anything. But then for me the pain was comparable to my periods, turns out I had stage 3 endometriosis so who knows if my pain tolerance was just high or if the tea helped 🤷🏼‍♀️
She also came a week early but I started colostrum collecting a couple days before so could be either one that triggered labour, or maybe she would’ve come early anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️
Personally I think it’s worth drinking anyway, it’s healthy and a good way to keep your fluids up and if it makes giving birth easier then that’s a bonus :)

Avatar

It always brought on my periods when they were a little late lol, but not sure about labor, i'm going to try it when its time.

Avatar

only the brand hot mama tea works for me, still tore but labour was quick and was able to go unmedicated

Avatar

It doesn’t stop tears though 😄

Avatar

Not atall and it’s rank so if your pregnancy makes you sick or you have started having food evasions do not try made me gag for like 10 minutes not worth the stitch

Avatar

I actually love the taste of it so I’m drinking it just because at this point. If it work it works and if it doesn’t then it doesn’t I guess
