Outpatient services with Medibank
Hi all, I’ve been in a dilemma , deciding where I’ll be financially better off giving birth. The doubt I had was that if anyone knows if inpatient services can be 100% claimed back by a public hospital on the overseas workers standard hospital and medical cover in medibank?
It’s around 500 dollars per consultation and I was wondering if any of y’all have had experience in a similar situation! There is no MBS item code apparently for inpatient hospital services, I’ve contacted the hospital and medibank both of them have told me to “try my luck” by putting in a claim and seeing if it works🫠

Private patients who elect to go to the public still incur out of pocket costs, depending on lots of factors ie. gap schemes, if other services or specialists are required during your admission. When you say per consultation, what are you referring to? Gynaecology management fees?
