My mom and I have this debate now and again where we talk about driving somewhere and she says "it's x miles away." Personally I want to know the time it takes to get there

Time. Because I don’t wanna be late or I wanna plan my day. Distance makes no difference to me. Time does. If we have to check in the Airbnb at 2pm, are we gonna be there by 2? Or are we gonna stop by lunch somewhere first etc. (because it’s not 2)

Time and my husband does distance since he’s the one driving the whole time

Knowing the distance does nothing for me lol Just tell me how long it’ll take to get there, why would I care about the mileage unless I’m walking 😂

It’s more of the route. If there are multiple routes and if you have to drive 5 miles in rush hour, it could take 1 hr, whereas another route could be 10 miles and you’d drive 15 min. I personally go to google or Apple Maps, plot my course, and choose when I want to leave or when I want to arrive. It usually tells me how long it will take to get there based on the time of day and date that I want to get there, and or it will tell me when I need to leave to get to a certain destination at the time I want to arrive.

20 miles by backroads takes a lot longer than 20 miles on the highway so telling me the miles doesn’t help unless I’m walking lol

Mostly time but sometimes distance.
For example it’s 3hrs to my sisters house either way you go, one way is 64 miles and one way is 155 miles.
The 64 mile way involves a ferry which takes a long time to get on, ride, then off

I don't drive, so I always look at time. Distance wouldn't compute much because I still don't know how long it takes to drive 5 miles lol.

Distance doesnt matter. I live in a city with terrible traffic. It could be 5km away and still take me 45 mins to get there.

Both

I ask for "time on a good day" then if I'm travelling in rush hour, I will add 15 mins to it! In the UK traffic/road works can add a lot of time to your journey.

I need both. Time can fluctuate depending on traffic or road works, etc.
