does oil/grease show up more on natural hair?

so i used to have dyed hair. i grew it all out, chopped it out and now for the first time since i was 12 i have all natural hair (yes i started dying it when i was 12 hahaha). i have a colleague at work who has bleached hair. i’ve noticed when it’s been a day or two without a shower, i put my hair half up half down but the top of my head looks super shiny and greasy, even though i only washed it a day or two beforehand. a colleague of mine, her hair NEVER looks greasy, ever, not shiny or anything. but she obviously dyes her hair blonde. so i’m wondering does grease and oil show up more on natural hair?? is there anything i can do to help this?

Kinda sorta yes!

it’s not just about it appearing less greasy / oily though! It kinda is just less oily, the active process of bleaching your hair strips it of natural oils & changes the follicles structure (the process eats away at the cuticle layers & proteins) , which ends up effecting elasticity & porosity, so basically what happens is, bleached / processed hair is more likely to absorb more of the oils produced by that individuals own scalp

(Obviously it depends per individual! some people do be having oily scalps / hair regardless of if it’s processed or not)

Yeah I think it's more that the bleach and dye damage your hair and dry it out.

Oh but yeah don't compare yourself to your colleague. Lots of this is genetics, some people have naturally oily hair and others don't.

I dyed my hair high school to almost end of college and it still gets as greasy just as quickly as it does now and when I stopped dying it. It’s a lot worse faster when I’m like constantly putting it behind my ears or moving it out of my face. I have to wash it at least every other day to control it sometimes everyday for a few days. I hate washing it but it feels better after

Healthy hair and scalps produce lots of oil. Its partly genetics too i have greasy hair thanks to my dad 🙃 I have to wash every other day to keep up with it, by day 3 its always greasy

Yeah I find that too but DRY SHAMPOO will be your best friend in between showers!! That, and a volumising powder that I put on the roots when I’m about to blowdry my hair upside down after a shower coz my hair is thin and tends to go flat w no products. (Curls def don’t hold all night for me even w a shitload of products) My hair is natural but I do a monthly herbal shampoo dye just to cover greys and it gives my hair a nice shine in the sun otherwise I haven’t bleached it in decades.

I personally always found that dark hair looks greasier quicker, but more healthy and blonde hair doesn’t look greasy as quick but you can see all the breakage easier.

I had dark hair from around 13 until I was around 19, and I’ve been blonde for the last 10 years so I’ve had both 😂

It definitely gets greasy still but I think it just doesn’t look as bad cos it’s a lighter colour x

A hairdresser basically said that to me, that dyed hair is damaged so doesn’t get oily as fast. Sucks to be me with natural hair that I have to wash every single day 😩

The less you wash the less you'll need to wash. I've never dyed my hair but I can go 4 to 5 days without washing and that 5th day is the only day the pill is noticeable. Since college I've only washed my hair twice a week

Agree with all the stuff about damaged hair and whatnot.
But also👆🏼 this, what Anna said.
I only wash my hair once a week - It does still get greasy and the dry shampoo comes out around day 5 to see me through until hair wash night 😂 but I think because I wash it less, it gets greasy less quick.
