Cough

My little one has been on/off with a cold since Monday so coming up to a week. Some days he's been really snotty and coughing, other days he's been fine so it's been a bit odd. Today he's been bad again and really emotional at times (then others laughing away!), this evening at some points his breathing sounded wheezy but only occasionally - when do I need to take him to the doctors? What's a normal cough and what's concerning
He's my first so don't want to over or under react especially when he's having happy spells so clearly isn't really unwell in himself

We are having the exact same! My little boy has had a cold, snotty nose and a cough for over a week now! Took him to doctor last Monday on day 3 of cold/snotty nose - checked him over and said likely a virus “ride it out” so we have.. he is a bit clingy but laughing playing etc absolutely fine! We’re on day 10 now and less snotty but still really nasty cough. Making himself sick when coughing especially if just fed! Anyway taking him back to doctors tomorrow just for peace of mind! Would prefer to go back and them say yep he’s fine! Also my first baby so probably wasting a trip to doctors but that’s what they are there for! I will say I bought the calpol plug in diffuser thing and I’m not sure if it’s had any effect but his room smells lovely! X

I've had similar with my daughter. She had a cold 3 weeks ago, but had left her a constant runny nose and chesty cough. She's been fine within herself, no temperatures and eating well. I called the GP and they said can take 6 weeks to recover as they can't clear out by blowing their nose like we can and didn't need to be seen as long as we felt she was slowly getting better

However, last 2 days has been really emotional, napping a lot more and reduced milk feeds so I'll be keeping a close eye on her.

If cough sounds particularly chesty and/or if your son has a fever and any other signs of not being well like reduced eating or wees etc check with 111/ GP.

I’m in the same boat, my LO has had on and off wheezing chest congestion, coughing and when crawling poor thing is so out of breath.

He’s not had temperature and is eating well. However I did end up taking him AE few times only to be given inhaler and nasal spray.

Still not completely better but am more concerned with him being so out of breath- I just hope it doesn’t turn out to be asthma.

Honestly could write this myself!
My LO has had a cough for weeks now. Came to a head 2 weeks ago when he threw up from the coughing. No temp, coughing only really in the night time (so I put that down to nasal drip as my first born did) Took him to the GP who said everything was fine and that it could be "viral infection of the upper respiratory". Said to keep an eye, but since seeing the GP he's now developed green gunk in his tear duct which I'm unsure if it's conjunctivitis, or just another "common cold symptom"? 🤦‍♀️ And his nose has not stopped running, no matter how much I use the nose sucker!
Started crawling this week so I fear that's just going to aggravate everything else that he's had. Nightmare!

Aw these poor babies 😢 mines also been sick from coughing but only after straight after breastfeeding so it goes all over me 🤦🏻‍♀️ I think I'll wait before taking him to the doctors, he seems okay for the majority and sounds like I'll be told to wait it out

Hope all your little ones are better soon 💙
