Pregnancy and maternity leave

My little one has just turned one and o returned back to work in December. I haven’t taken a pregnancy test yet but my period is late. Does anyone know how maternity leave would work again if I’m pregnant and only returned back to work in December?

Congratulations on your little one turning one, and potentially having another on the way!

I work in a management role in a care home and as far as I am aware...

In the UK, you have the right to another 52 weeks of maternity leave for a second pregnancy, regardless of how soon it follows the first, provided you are still legally classed as an employee.
Because you returned to work in December, you likely have continuous service, making the process straightforward.

The earliest you can start your second maternity leave is 11 weeks before your expected due date.
