My daughter (age almost 3) wants to dress up as Lulu, her favourite character from a book series for World book day (picture of said book and character below for reference) Would you say its cultural appropriation as my daughter is white?
We wouldn't be adding any racial element to the costume, just the outfit and three little bunches in her hair.

I think it’s fine as long as you don’t like backcomb her hair to try to make it mimic Afro hair or something like that. It’s cute 🥰

I see that’s fine. Chinese New Year was just last week and I saw many white people at the festival and temple who wore a Chinese cheongsam/Vietnamese Ao dai and dressed their kids in Chinese traditional costume- I don’t see anything wrong w that. It’s super adorable actually.

Kids don't see racism and colour etc She just loves the story. I'd do her hair in little knots (can't think what you call them lol little buns) and then match the outfit x
