Now I'm wondering where you would have heard this...

Edit: waaaaait. I know this. This is an Asian / South Asian cultural belief.

In Chinese medicine (and other related traditions), women are believed to be in a "cold state" postpartum. The idea is that in a cold state, you need to be kept warm (blankets, tea, hot water) in order to heal, which also includes "warm" foods. Different foods are classified as either warm or cold. Soup, for example, is a "warm" food, so it would in theory help to balance your "cold" state and heal you.

Citrus fruits are probably considered "cold." So they would be considered something to avoid if you are already in a "cold" state.

This isn't to knock traditional medicine, but unfortunately there is zero scientific evidence to support this idea. It's purely cultural. Oranges and citrus provide good nutrition, which you need postpartum, so enjoy them.
