Hi everyone,
Feeling totally fed up and deflated. I was diagnosed with tachycardia pre pregnancy & they couldn’t work out the cause (they did an ECG and Echo but I haven’t done an ECG where I wear a device for a length of time for more readings). I was put on beta blockers to help when I had episodes but was told I can’t take them now. I am now 17 weeks pregnant and keep having bad episodes of tachycardia (140 heart rate and rising and then will drop down again) and now each time they are doing my blood pressure the same thing is happening - high readings that slowly fluctuate. Obviously aware this happens in pregnancy anyway due to more blood volume etc. but I keep being told it’s high and then nothing comes of it. I just leave feeling totally anxious and unsure of what to do.
Has anyone else had this? What happened, were you monitored regularly etc? Did it get worse?
ANY advice from someone in a similar situation would be amazing, thank you xx

Have you seen a obstetric consultant in pregnant? Certain Beta blockers are safe in pregnancy such as labetalol which lowers your blood pressure (and your HR) I’m 16 weeks pregnant and take labetalol for hypertension.
It would be work talking to them again.
Hope that helps x

I don’t have tachycardia, just hypertension and kidney disease. So they advise induction at 38 weeks if my bloods remain normal, however likely having an elective C-section.
Sorry you feel like you aren’t being listened to, do some research and if they won’t listen ask to speak to another doctor.

I am under an obstetric cardiologist as I have a pacemaker and arrythmias. I am on my second pregnancy and I take bisoprolol and did in my first pregnancy. If you look into the risks they are very minimal but makes you so much safer during your pregnancy. Ask your midwife to contact cardiology

Im on Bisoprolol 5mg a day for a tachy Ive had since my teens. Its totally safe. Push for a second opinion. Your heart is pumping harder and faster in pregnancy so if you had any conditions pre-pregnancy, they can be aggravated. You shouldn’t have to suffer. Top tip, don’t lie down if you have a bout of palpitations, keep head above heart. Also make sure they check your thyroid as that can also cause an arrhythmia.
