Croup

Has anyone's toddler had croup before? It's so awful and the doctor hasn't given me anything to help. I'm not getting any sleep because he's coughing so much at night. Any help or sympathy greatly appreciated 🫠

My toddler suffers with croup in the winter! It definitely is awful, I normally forget the gp and head straight to the hospital where normally they give steroids there and then! Plenty of fluids, try and elevate them so they are up right in bed, in a bathroom with steam (if you can). I hope your little one feels better soon! And I hope you manage to get some sleep! X

Mine has just started getting it. First time was terrifying as it was middle of the night and we thought he was choking! Ambulance came and administered steroids and he went to hospital for monitoring. Happened again this week in the night but we were able to calm him down and back to sleep. It’s so scary, the advice is to try and keep them calm as possible as their distress makes it worse. My GP gave us a prescription of steroids to have at home just in case we need to administer at night. Maybe you could push for the same?
