Saw a post about Trump and the poster saying they weren’t aware of the things he’s done, I’m just curious why anyone would vote for someone (this is not party specific) they don’t know history of. We have the right to vote and you can do whatever you want however you should be an educated voter, otherwise it’s kinda pointless. I guess it just makes me sad/disappointed because it reminds me of 1950’s housewives that repeated and believed whatever their husband told them to because one they didn’t have the same resources and education and two they lacked rights. We have these things now and we have resources in our hands all day, so I can’t understand how anyone is just voting to vote anymore (voting all red or blue because that’s how they align)

Informed and vote in local elections.

Love this post, couldn’t agree more

lol always be informed !!

For whoever is not informed, they are actively trying to make it harder for women to vote. Without a passport or birth certificate (not ID, your ID is not for citizenship) you won't be able to vote. That's what they are trying to do. So if you are married and had your name changed, if it doesn't match you can't do it, you need an updated birth certificate.

I am. I research a lot.
Some people don't have access to the internet in their home.
Some do, but don't actively research.
If you only watch fox news, you wouldn't exactly have a realistic view of him.

Hardly someone will admit they are ignorant or uneducated voters, don't you think?
Still, there is a lot of garbage information out there and you would have to rely on people finding and identifying reliable sources.
Antivaxxers have also done their own research, for example. They consider themselves educated.

I always research the party I’m interested in and others too. I vote in local and general elections as well!

Are you referring to voting in general? Or is this post targeted towards the past presidential election?

The uninformed voters aren’t self aware enough to see themselves as uninformed they’re going mainly off vibes and whatever the popular rhetoric of their media allegiance is saying. And I think I may have seen that same “I left maga” girls vid, I really appreciate people like that admitting they were ignorant and apologizing but even still most of them aren’t taking full accountability and they’re now like the “enlightened” centrist stereotype instead of realizing they’re at the beginning of their political evolution. If it’s the same girl I’m thinking of shes still demonizing “the radical left”

I will say that there is a lot of propaganda that people believe so even though people do feel informed we can’t guarantee that they are informed with the truth. Whatever that means lol.
I like how someone brought up anti vaxxers above. That’s a good example of people feeling super informed but in reality they believed propaganda/disinformation.

Mediq literacy is personally very important to me. If i hear someone make a claim or statement, i hold them accountable to media literacy as well. My brother calls me "fucking fact checker" quite often

Critical thinking and media literacy are essential to being informed, I've found those are dying arts

I do. My research has shown me they all suck. They're all just a cog in the machine. With that said, I do still vote based off what I feel (based off research) will bring about at least some happiness and betterment to the world.
I feel like we should discuss research though. It stresses me out the wide variety of content people deem as research. 😫 A good half or more isn't research at all. 😑

This post makes me want to do another post about how people gather information and do research. 🤔 Where do they get their information?
