We recently moved and brought my husband’s dog with us. We lived in the basement and the dog lived upstairs with my in laws because basement was small. I didn’t really interact with the dog because I’m not a huge dog person but the smell is terrible. I just got my washer and dryer and going to wash her bed and told my husband to give her a bath tomorrow. What other tips can you please give me??? It smells so strongly of dog and it’s making me so upset. The dog is not allowed on couch or bed either way but I just need some tips because this is the first time I live with a dog. And also this is the first time we have land so she’s been very happy to be outside and run around and I noticed she also smells like outside. Our other home was in a neighborhood with houses close together and no outside area. I was gonna tell my husband to do weekly baths too but someone told me that’s bad for her.. she’s a Rottweiler for reference.

Maybe the dog has a skin issue? You should take it to the vet and get it checked out if bathing isnt enougj

You could hose her down with fresh water before letting her all the way back inside if she’s tracking outdoor smells inside, and also making sure she’s getting her coat brushed out weekly even if she skips a bath that week 🤷♀️
They also make dog safe perfumes that some groomers have in their own shops lol
There’s also a few candle brands that make amazing odor eliminator products! Sand + paws (sand + fog’s pet branded line, the sand and fog candles are the exact same just different packaging lol they sell them at Marshall’s) & also this brand https://www.chewy.com/pet-odor-exterminator-hippie-love/dp/47161?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=22511270149&utm_content=181823481831&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22511270149&gbraid=0AAAAADmQ2V2zzO7H3dmEWU9hwbxVVrCFn&gclid=CjwKCAiAnoXNBhAZEiwAnItcG-v7LCAjeCMvh3pCzYPc2parbBVvw7iNwMf-qagLlDXh13mR6c4c_xoCLpgQAvD_BwE

There are lots of options: hose down before going in every day then follow with dog perfume of choice, odor eliminator candles, baths are usually recommended once monthly but in ur case every other week wouldn’t be harmful just be sure ur using dog shampoo, unscented baby wipes for entire body wipe down. Ur dog will smell like a dog still but the strength shouldn’t be so strong. There is also nothing wrong with ur dog being an outside dog and if they are going in they get a bath and stay inside for a few days etc. going outside and running a muck will only lead to strong outside dog smells try to find ur balance .

They got arm and Hammer pet deodorizers for the house that work good
