Stretch and sweeps at 38 weeks

Hi all.
Due to previous pre term labour and c section with my first, my consultant has booked me in for stretch and sweeps every other day from 38 weeks, as I’ve said I want to avoid induction but she doesn’t want me going past DD.
How did you find them? Were they successful quickly? Was it really painful?
Thank you

Hi, I had 3 and none worked. But several other people I know had the first one work in 48 hours.
They are uncomfortable and can be a tad painful but you have full control. If you want to stop or pause the midwife will instantly. Fingers crossed it works for you!

Worked with my daughter (went into labour within 24 hours). Had 3 with my son and none of them worked x

Thank you so much for your responses. Just out of interest at what stage did you have them? Wondering if the fact that I’ll only be 38 weeks will mean they are less likely to work?x

I had one at 39+2 and I began losing my plug over the weekend and having inconsistent contractions, it was pretty frustrating . Then at 39+5 I had a second sweep and after I stood upI had the first labor Contraction, and they only got closer until I had her at 39+

The first stretch and sweep was uncomfortable, but very bearable, I was at home with my toddler trying to climb all over me lol. The second was more uncomfortable/mildly painful but the midwife said she gave it "a good go" lol.
