UK- Do you tip hairdressers?

I'm ashamed to admit it hadn't occurred to me as a thing until seeing it on here, I'm about to have a haircut for the first time in a long time- is it standard to tip? I've only ever been with my mum and she's not the tipping kind, whereas I prefer to be like my dad and tip over the generic UK 10%.... Have I been offending my hairdressers?? Should I tip tomorrow (assuming they don't shave my head)??

Tipping in the UK needs to be carefully done - some companies take the tip as a whole and then distribute it between employees which defeats the point of tipping your person.

I’ve previously bought chocolates or a little gift for my hair dresser x

No. I hate tipping

Everything is too expensive as it is without tipping on top, so no x

If they do a good job then yes, I tip! I do at restaurants and if I get my nails done too etc, but only if they've been good (which tbf has been 99% of the time haha).

I always tip personally x

Hairdressers? Can't remember the last time I could afford such a luxury 😭😂

I tipped, it was with a new hairdresser and I hadn’t had my hair cut in well over a year so it was a total reshape and colour and she was only charging me for a colour touch up so it was like over £50 cheaper then I was expecting so I gave a £20 (cash) tip 💁🏻‍♀️ gal did a good job i tip when I am impressed! Same with delivery drivers I sometimes had food delivered at work if they text me to come outside to them instead of bothering to come in I wouldn’t tip but if they actually came in to deliver it to me I would as I was on the second floor it’s the effort I tip 🤷🏻‍♀️

I do but I don't know why. It costs £55 for a cut and blow and he's finished in 45 mins. Wish I did a job where I could charge £55 for less than an hour's work 🤣

Oh no, I tried to tip but it wasn't possible by card and I had no cash or physical bank cards with me. It was awkward, now I can never return

I recently loved my complete restyle so much I wanted to round up my payment to include a tip and the receptionist got quite awkward and said 'well you can but it's shared between all of us'. I get that with restaurants, but I know only one person cut my hair so 🤷🏻‍♀️

I do because I’m American living in the UK so tipping is engrained in my brain lol. But I won’t do the full 20% unless I’m seriously obsessed with the result
