My son is 4, and obviously it comes up in movies- like the lion King.
I straight up said, oh, the daddy is dead. He's gone.
I don't think he fully gets it.

I don't think children really get it till they go through losing someone. I was 4 when my grandad died and one minute he was there the next he wasn't. My family always said he's died and gone to heaven in the sky and hes looking down on me always even though you can't see him and that's how I plan on explaining it to my children

Death is a part of life so my 4 yr old also knows abt death. Of course he doesn’t fully get it bt he knows when some1 has gone to sleep and never waking up 😇 cuz tbh even as an adult I don’t get it either 🫠 bt I think as parents we jus have to revisit topics with our kids until they get it. Lots of kids loose ppl they love through out their childhood so I think some ppl talk abt it even earlier than 4
