First Trimester Hell

I’m almost 8 weeks and I’m honestly a bit shocked by how hard the first trimester is. It’s not even the nausea for me, it’s the physical changes. I feel swollen, full of fluid, my hands feel weak, my legs and knees feel weak, my skin is changing so fast, I feel I’ve already aged a decade, and my breasts have doubled in size and are so sore that I can’t sleep properly. Bra hurts, no bra hurts, and lying down sometimes literally makes me feel like I can’t breathe because of the weight of them.
I really didn’t expect it to be this intense this early. How did you get through the first trimester? I’m dreading getting through the next 7 months like this… Any tips would be very appreciated.

Try get as much rest as possible! First trimester is the worst trimester and you’ll feel much better in the second trimester 🙏

Get a pregnancy pillow they are a lifesaver!

You will start to feel better soon. I agree that the first trimester is the worst. Physically and emotionally. Your hormones are doing crazy things. But they will balance out and you'll start to feel better. Hang in there!

I didn’t get through it I fought the whole way through. Straight miserable the whole pregnancy 😭 I wanted someone to validate my feelings but instead I got “give yourself some grace” “omg you are pregnant it’s fine !” I felt like no one understood how I felt ! All those changes are so real and extremely hard to live with it’s like you can’t be comfortable in your own skin ! I woke up everyday crying from all the fluid in my face and extremities. The only thing I wish I did in my first trimester was exercise and drink a lot of water ! I did neither and I think that was a big mistake for me in my opinion. I really hope it gets better for you ! ❤️

Im also 8 weeks and in hell with the nausea and sickness. This is my second and honestly as the others have said this is by far the worst time. X

Sleep when you can, and stay busy is what I did. It was the constant flu like body aches that did me in. Cried many times lol. But then one day it was gone. 🤷

I got my pregnancy pillow at 8 weeks , iv also got hyperemesis and was admitted to hospital and on iv fluids and banana bag due to very high ketones. I was sick 9 times a day now only once thankfully. Make sure you hydrate well and limit your exercise as this can spike your ketone levels due to dehydration. Genuinely relax as much as possible the first 12 weeks are critical for you and baby. Keep up with your carbohydrates, and have plenty of fibre in your diet for energy! . I am 11 weeks now , im doing much better but limiting my exercise so as iv enough energy x

The first trimester was by FAR the worst for me. I really felt like i was dying. Get the nursing bras and maternity pants now, one of my biggest regrets was waiting too long to get these. You dont have to wait for the bump, like you said your body is already changing and the right clothes made a world of difference in my comfort!

It will get better! Before you know it you will be feeling yourself again and the biggest annoyance will be an out of control sex drive 🤣🫣

First trimester is the hardest to me. Second was bliss and third was uncomfortable. It definitely helps to know it's not necessarily like that for the whole pregnancy.

Anxiety

I’m currently 18+6 and this is my first pregnancy with a BMI of 34-35, and I’m shit scared about my health. Currently, I’m doing alright, but I have this constant fear of getting GD. My mum had GD when she was pregnant with me, and because of my BMI, I’m at high risk of getting it. I have been eating fairly healthily, but just the anxiety is killing me. I had an ice cream just now after lunch, and all I can think of is getting GD. Plus, I have been leaning towards a C-section just because I want to have a little bit of control over the situation (IYKWIM), but I’m also scared of getting the scar infected. I would love to hear what your thoughts are so I could feel normal about it x

Never had a CO2 check at midwife appts

Is this normal? Or is my midwife seriously lacking? She also hasn’t checked my weight since my 20 week appointment or maybe even earlier which I find really strange.
