My boy was prescribed Aptamil Pepti 1 nearly 7 weeks ago now. His rash cleared but the mucus nappies continued, I gave it 6 weeks as I know it can take a while for his gut to heal.
Last Friday when changing him I noticed what I think was blood (not 100% sure though) and the GP was happy to change his milk (Nutramigen) which we are waiting for our chemist to have in stock.
Last Friday he was sick a lot after feeds, this has happened a few times leading up to Friday and I presumed it’s because pepti was quite thin and was planning on buying carobel.
His rash has now come back and he’s had loose nappies since Sunday. I presumed he was maybe having a bit of a clear out as he didn’t go on Saturday. I know it’s normal to not go everyday but my boy does.
Now after every feed he’s having loose nappies. Orange in colour, it’s still slightly mucus like and I think seedy (not 100% sure because the smell is unreal🤮 what I can only describe as death!!). His last feed he went halfway through a bottle.
I’m not sure if it’s a viral bug or it’s because of Pepti? Should I be taking him to the GP?
He’s fine in himself (maybe sleepier than normal), still feeding, small wake periods, not crying in pain etc. he’s been really windy since starting pepti but even this smells now.
With him still feeding I’m guessing it’s the milk? I’m hoping it’ll be available to pick up today 🤞🏻

Aptimil pepti 1 still has milk in it the proteins have just been broken down, it’s more suitable for babies who are have a mild allergy, if littles ones nappies were still an issue the whole time then I’d assume it’s the formula. Some babies can handle it and some need a formula that is completely dairy free

We was on pepti 1 we had similar issues we have changed to amino acid milk neocate the smells worse than pepti and we have to use carobel with it. You can get carobel on prescription as well if that is helpful for you. I would talk to your doctor if it doesn’t approve. Pepti 1 usually makes the poop green so I would get checked
