NIPT - to do it or not?

Hey girls, I am 28y.o, it’s my first pregnancy, I am 11w2d.
Just finished my antenatal scan with NHS and I opted for the combined testing for Down Syndrome etc.
I am not sure what is the difference between the NHS test and the private NIPT test? Does it make a huge difference? Is it worth doing it? Or do you think that NHS is enough?
Thanks for the advice!

In my first pregnancy I just had the NHS combined testing and it all came back low risk. If it had flagged anything then I might have followed up with a NIPT but I personally didn't see any need to have a private NIPT test otherwise. I'm doing the same for this pregnancy

Only do the nipt if you get high results on the combined screening x

NHS screening has only 80% sensitivity for downs syndrome. So it misses one in 5, which is very high. Unfortunately I was 'very low risk equivalent to 18 year old' and then private NIPT came back as positive in a previous pregnancy. I would always advise people to do NIPT if you can afford it.

Not sure how to get midwife to take me seriously?

I have been having several dizzy/near-faint episodes that the midwife brushes off as hormones as my iron, blood sugar etc is all OK even though my heart rate is much higher than normal. Today it happened while I was seated and my husband was taking his BP at the time and we measured mine a few times and the results were 76/47 and 126bpm heart rate. I have a midwife appt at 10am and worried she will brush me off again but I feel the episodes are getting dangerous now due to my size and how hard I will fall? Anyone else had this?

Glucose test questions

Hi! My glucose test is around the corner & I’m wondering what option other moms went with & how it worked out? I hear you have the regular glucose test, the more natural Fresh Test or the at home finger pricking option.

Vitamins

The whole of first trimester i have really been struggling with sickness and extreme nausea! I haven’t been able to have anti sickness due to being allergic to several after trying them out!
I mentioned to the GP i was worried that when im taking my vitamins im vomiting them out i have tried several different ones.
I mentioned it at my booking appointment in which she had said not to stress so much over them.
I already feel like a failure.
I have just hit 12 weeks and honestly have so much anxiety coming up to the scan, just because i havent been able to keep the vitamins down.
Has anyone been through this?
I genuinely feel fobbed off by the doctors

Anyone else feeling really heavy?

So I’m 27 weeks, and I feel really heavy! It’s the only way I can explain it, like my front feels heavy and my back hurts ( but not that much surprisingly) it’s more that when I’m stood or sat I feel uncomfortable. Anyone else feeling this at the min? This is my second pregnancy and child, and I don’t remember it being this bad first time round!

High blood pressure

I’ve had pre e with 3/4 of my kids. They are obviously watching me close this time around. I went to L&D about 3 weeks ago for it being really high. Got there it went down but they did keep me overnight. I’ve been monitoring my bp at home for a couple months now. Took my afternoon reading and was 190/80. I relaxed and wait 10-15 min to retake and was 152/75. I’m scared I will be having pre e again this time around.
