How soon is too soon to marry someone?

So I dont like judging people for this. Yes it is better to be together for a while before marriage and you should definitely get to know someone. But I have heard of happily ever after when they married 2 Months after meeting. I have also heard of MANY who were together for quite a while and divorcing. I feel it really depends on the 2 people who want to get married.

My SIL was with her husband for 10 years before they got married.....divorced 2 years after being married. One of my college friends parents got married 6 months after meeting, they've been happily married 45 years 🤷🏼‍♀️

For me personally all of those options are too soon, I’ve had food in the freezer longer.

To me a year isn’t enough time to truly know someone, lots of people do seem to rush in and struggle when they’ve not seen a side to someone or the going gets tough for a while. I know too many who rushed in for various reasons and they are divorced/separated.

I personally think it’s all about life experience. If you, as a couple, have been to hell and back because of a bad situation and managed to survive with your love and dignity intact… then it’s a good sign. My husband and I were together 3 years before marriage, but lived 400 miles apart and only saw each other on occasion for 2ish of those 3 years because of his army career. We survived some truly horrendous circumstances before marriage, so we knew we could get through anything. We’ve been happily married for 7 years (with time apart and time together).

I think with age usually comes maturity, wisdom, and better discernment (of course not for everyone) and a 40 year old getting married 1 year into a relationship isn’t the same as an 18 year old getting married 1 year into a relationship, so depends. All theses would be kinda soon for anyone under like 30 in my opinion.

These are all too soon for me personally.
