Soo my LO one is just over a year. We are weaning off of bottles. He is completely weaned off formula. I was late on the memo of switching from formula to whole milk in a sippy cup vs a bottle. So now he’ll drink 8-14 ounces of water a day but if I give him milk in his sippy cup he absolutely will refuse to drink it. If I give him 6 ounces of milk in a bottle he’ll drink it down no problem so I know he doesn’t mind the whole milk. Nap and bedtimes are slightly more challenging with no bottle and I’m okay with him drinking a couple ounces of milk a day (usually all I can get him to drink without spitting it out) and primarily drinking water. We live in the humidity and it gets hot! I don’t want him to get a stomach ache from drinking too much milk when he is hot. He is an awesome eater! 3 very big meals a day and he snacks consistently. His one year check up his pediatrician said he was growing perfectly on his curve. But I’ve got other moms telling me he isn’t getting enough nutrients because he isn’t solely drinking milk. Anyone else’s child being stubborn when it comes to what they drink out of a sippy?
Oh and PS I have tried 4 different kinds of sippy cups and he refuses milk in all of them. . .

I tried weaning mine off and he also only drinks a few ounces of milk out of a straw cup. I gave up and went back to bottles in the morning and at night. He still doesn’t eat solid food great meal wise so I was afraid he wasn’t getting enough calories. Milk isn’t mandatory if he’s a good eater and getting milk nutrients in other foods

My pediatrician actually told me about studies they are doing saying babies shouldn’t be drinking a lot of whole milk and that they are getting plenty of nutrients through their food! Don’t worry about it, I think any milk is great!

I’ve read they don’t need that much milk if they’re good eaters. Don’t stress. You’re doing great!

Don't worry about it at all. Cow's milk has far less nutrients than formula and is not a substitute. Healthy foods should be their primary form of nutrition at this point. Water for hydration is key and a little milk if wanted on the side but not necessary!
