What to pack for L&D

I think whats too much depends on the person. Best advice I got the first time was to pack enough clothes for 3 days for you and partner/support person. With my first I had an emergency C-section and had to stay 3 days instead of my planned 1-2 with a vaginal.
I also think hospitals are gross (I am a nurse too lol) and so shower shoes or flip flops are a MUST.
For your baby, I liked having my own cute/soft swaddle but then she had a blow out and we had to take a poop blanket home and that was not the best and so this time I will bring 1 MAYBE 2 going home outfits and 1 swaddle/blanket for baby.

Also a FTM Im packing anything to make myself and baby comfy, slippers, pjs, labor gown,towels, postpartum kit, self care. Two outfits for baby. I like having my own things even if hospital provides it.

For natural birth expect to stay in the hospital from 24-48 hours, for C-section a day or two more.
-Hygiene, skincare and make up kit
-A button up pj dresses
-Colored bath towel for you
-A black labor and delivery gown only if you don’t like the hospital gown
-A pillow and a blanket for comfort
-A sleeping mask
-A hatch sound machine or a dupe if you don’t want to hear those hospital noise sounds
-A water jug and electrolyte for hydration
-Some snacks
- Perinial care- the hospital provides tucks, dermoplast, pads, disposable shorts and ice packs. If you want something else for comfort bring those. Especially the peri bottle with the nozzle some people prefer it and some people just make the hospital one work.
- Silverrettes or at least some nipple cream if your hospital doesn’t provide
- Egg light
- boppy pillow
- Boyfriend or husband’s tylenol or advil or tums ( the doctor will not give any medicine for non patient) just in case
- Some stool softeners is a must

A going home outfit for you and baby, bathroom slippers, nonslip socks, comfy in room slippers, unexpired carseat, announcement sign and some camera- a preference only, newborn and 0-3 months baby clothes sizes you don’t know what fits the baby yet, a nail file or clippers for baby, mittens with draw string to keep in place and socks. Vaseline or any petroleum jelly for removing meconium. Other stuff for baby the hospital provides it.

Anything more than this is just preference not a need.
