Advice?? Opinions??

My mom came over today. She’s been coming over just about 1-2x a week the past month. She lives about 20 min from me so we see each other often(1-2x a week)

So today she came over, after spending about 3 hours at my house. During that time she held my baby, played with her. But the thing is, if someone is holding my baby and you go in your phone and are no longer interacting with her then I move her. I do not want her to just be watching as someone is on their phone not paying attention to her. So this was maybe towards the end of the visit. I grabbed my baby and was holding her walking around doing light chores at my house. And my mom is complying that I need a chair or some type of toy to put her in so that she doesn’t get spoiled by me holding her. *I ignore this comment bc she has been saying this since she was 6 days old and she’s now 6 months old*

Okay so that’s the first comment.

The next comment is that she says “Oh ik your mom is just taking up all the babies’ love “ I ignore because who even says something like that????

Last thing that she was upset about. My sister came over during the visit. She was playing with my baby and held my baby a way that hurt her. I went to go grab my baby. And as I’m walking away with my baby in my arms comforting that’s when my mom comes and is like oh give me her. Like whatt no??? She does this thing where she tries to rush in- in the middle of the comforting or the middle of me trying to out her to sleep. It’s the oddest thing?? Instead of just going to grab my 6 month old from whatever activity she is doing she will wait until my baby is in my arms to then try and comfort her as I’m doing it if that makes sense.

So there have been plants of times where my baby starts to get sleepy so whatever she is doing I’ll grab her and start rocking her to sleep. As she is falling sleep(she’ll have her head on my shoulder or something) that’s when my mom will try to come in and say “oh let me hold her” like Uhmm no. You saw her on her playmat by herself. That was your chance to grab her. Why now that you see me trying to put her to sleep do you want to hold her and try and put her to sleep?? Like my baby is not a toy and not an accessory!

Ugh okay advice? This is my therapy session x

I feel like she’s in mother mode a lil too much when it comes to YOUR baby. That’s ur mother and its beautiful she’s there to help so much but it’s also not appropriate for her to be so demanding of ur child. also giving advice vs saying do this is a lot different and if she were to say “in my opinion” instead of demanding things when only a mother to child knows what’s best unless they are unfit..then there’s no reason in my opinion for her to say the things she is unless she can word them differently to come across better in my opinion

I do get where you’re coming from and some of the comments she’s made shouldn’t be happening but I feel like that’s a generic grand parent thing because my parents are the same 🤣
