Dentist

I took my eldest for a check up at the dentist today and enquired as to when to register and bring my May baby for his first appointment. The receptionist and the dentist both said 2 years old. I swear it was earlier with my daughter but maybe I'm just misremembering it! Interested to hear what others have been told. He'll be familiar with the environment from seeing me and my daughter go, so it's more about actually having his own teeth checked x

At mine it’s two years old unless you have any concerns

I work as a dental nurse and took my own daughter for her first check up when she was 6 months old. She didn’t even have a full tooth through yet. As a baby it’s more to get them used to the environment, but by 2 they will have all (probably) baby teeth so I think that is late to take a child. We always say 6 months or as soon as the first tooth is through, helpful for mums too to get any advice or ask questions.

As a dental nurse as well. We always encourage families to come with their babies as soon as they have their first teeth. Just like Caitlin said for them to get used to the environment. All the dentists in my practice say the same thing.. I find it a bit odd that they said 2 years.. maybe something changed and I’m not aware.

I registered my LO when he was 11 weeks and he had his first check up when he was 6mo - no teeth! He has another one the week after he turns 1

Oh that's different to what I was told, my daughter had her first check up when she was 4 month's old, no teeth but they still checked her gums and to get her used to it, she has just had her second appointment and now she has 5 teeth at 10 month's old xx

Feeds during nursery day

My daughter is starting nursery 3 days a week in June (will have turned one 3 days prior). She still breast feeds at least 3 times during the day. I’m not sure what to do when she starts nursery as I find it hard to get any milk when I express so don’t think that’ll be an option. Has anyone found that when their just turned 1 year old has started nursery that they just adapt without being BF during the day?

The closer we’re getting, the more anxious I feel about it😫

Why is it that my 7.5 month old either wakes up for a feed during the night and sleeps until 5:30am but when he doesnt wake for a night feed he is sleep until 4:20am.

Any help to understanding this or any advice and how to help him sleep till 6am would be appreciated. He has 2 or 3 naps during the day (3 hours total) and goes to bed for 7pm every night.

Broken sleep for over two months

My baby boy gets so congested through the night but is absolutely fine in the day, we’ve had multiple doctors visits now but don’t seem to be getting no where. Has anyone else had this issue and if so please could I have advice? We’re both not getting much sleep in the night and it’s exhausting.😢

Husband working away with a baby that doesn’t sleep!

I am really struggling as I have a 19 month old and a newborn, both who wake frequently throughout the night.

My 6 week old obviously wakes every 1-2 hours to BF and my toddler wakes at least 3 times a night and needs resettling. It takes me about 30 minutes to resettle him each time.

How can I cope with this on my own when my partner is away? My partner is working away for a week and we do not live near any family as we move around frequently due to his work, currently we are temporarily living away from our hometown. I can’t nap in the day as I need to do chores and they are rarely napping at the same time anyway.

I am really struggling to function and it’s only day 4 of no sleep (out of 7).

Baby falling asleep while breastfeeding

It’s been so stressful. My 2 week old keeps falling asleep during breastfeeding.

She had jaundice at 2 days and had to be topped up with formula which was really something I didn’t want to do.

So now our feeding regimen is breastfeed, then top up with formula then pump so my body starts to produce more milk.

The problem is that I am so stressed about being able to produce enough milk for her eventually. I really want to her off of formula asap but she really still needs the top up since I don’t think she’s getting enough from me.

I’ve spoken to multiple midwives and some lactation experts and they all say different things and tend to contradict each as well.

Anyone else experienced somethjng similar and resolved eventually?
