…with our newborn. I feel like I’m doing a terrible job of being a mother. I don’t know what my baby wants when they fuss or cry, I try to rule out different basic needs, then go back and retry everything. The crying doesn’t stop. I had no choice but to let him sleep on my chest (which I know isn’t safe), I was exhausted and just needed sleep.
I’m having quite intrusive thoughts, feeling like he should be taken away from me because I’m not good enough. I don’t know how much longer I can cope feeling like this. I honestly have no idea how women do this. I’m falling apart 💔

Please reach out to the health visitor/midwife/GP and get some support. I didn’t with my first and I regret it. Also, I’m on my second newborn experience and I still have no idea what the baby wants half the time! There is the cry-sis help line which is for when your baby won’t stop crying and you don’t know what to do, PANDAS foundation for postnatal depression and mothers for mothers which is a charity which should have groups in your area. There is lots of support available to you, you don’t have to suffer on your own.
