What’s people’s views? Due date is in 4 days and midwife offered me one tomorrow. She said it’s better to spread them out (can have up to 3) to keep some tools in the toolkit so to speak.
My friend said to accept pain relief but I go to a local community centre so not really sure what they’d have available?
Thanks in advance

Following as also wondering the same thing!

I had a sweep with my last two babies. Helped start things off but still was induced with both. Got a sweep booked in for the 5th due on the 7th. It didn’t hurt just more discomfort but if you get to much pain they stop xxx

You can have more than 3 sweeps, I've recently had two one Saturday just gone and one on Tuesday, they are uncomfortable rather than painful, I have another two booked one for this Saturday and one for next Tuesday as I'm trying to avoid a hormonal induction.
I found the sweeps useful as I know what babies station is and also how dilated my cervix is, first one was closed, second one 1cm dilated, hoping come Saturday I will be slightly more dilated particularly now babies head is further into my pelvis.
However, as with any Vaginal exam you are at risk of infection so something to consider.
If you struggle with pain you could take a couple of paracetamol before your sweep but I personally didn't find them painful, just uncomfortable and the first one was more so than the second.

I had one last Thursday at 38+5, and have another in an hour at 39+5. It didn't do anything unfortunately but was told I was 2cm dilated, he's head down, soft cervix, so that was useful to know! Didn't hurt at all just felt uncomfortable. My midwife also wanted to spread them out, a week apart x

Hate them. Don’t mess with nature and let your body do its own thing or it just sends it into panic
