Chickenpox help!

Flying to Greece tomorrow and my 4 year old has woken up with chickenpox. Holiday is cancelled weeeep but now v concerned as have a 2 year old and 3 month old at home. I’ve read that he would have been contagious before the spots appeared so doesn’t feel like there’s much we can do really, but has anyone had experience of a baby with chickenpox please?

Additionally, I haven’t had chickenpox before and am breastfeeding. Does anyone know how to deal with this please? Thanks x

Incubation period for chickenpox is up to 3 weeks and it’s contagious 1-2 days before spots appear until they’re all crusted over. So all you can do in this case is wait unfortunately, as it could take 3 weeks for the rest of the family to show symptoms. As for the baby, they would need a medical consult if they catch it, as babies are more prone to complications. Try to keep them separated for now just in case x
