FTM, 36 weeks 4 days. I’ve had a few days of Prodromal labor but today my contractions were under 5 min apart for over an hour and when I decided to go to the hospital I noticed I was also bleeding. When I got to Labor and Delivery I was 1 cm dilated and my contractions were very intense and 3 min apart. The doctor told me she believed I was in labor but they sent me home after 6 hours because my cervix wasn’t progressing. They also didn’t give me a clear explanation as to why I’m bleeding, told me it was either a slight placental abruption or just bleeding from cervical changes. I’m just so frustrated because they told me to come back when my contractions are close together or if the bleeding gets worse, but my contractions are still coming every 4 minutes. Luckily baby is doing fine but it would be nice to feel a little more supported by my care team as a FTM.

Could you talk to your ob/gyn and see what they say?

I feel that too, I had that happen the other day, but I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m just going to wait until I can’t hold out any longer on pain before going in. I’m doing a natural birth anyway so it doesn’t make that much of a difference to labor at home for longer since it’s more comfortable at home anyway. It’s just really hard to tell when to go and when your cervix is dilated enough. I’ve been drinking pineapple juice, eating dates, going curb walking/going on longer walks (using my maternity belt for pain), taking Tylenol to control the pain contractions that are coming really frequently, bouncing/rocking on my birthing ball, and doing things with my husband to try to get this baby down further to dilate my cervix more so she can be born.

This happened to me!
Same thing basically (I was 37 weeks) and I went in with regular contractions and had spotting (bloody show) and wasn’t progressing so they sent me home. I still continued to have contractions off and on. Went to my ob a few days later and was 4cm and 70% effaced. Two days later I had the baby 😂 so watch out! And my labor was a total of 3 hrs from start of contractions to when I pushed him out, I barely made it to the hospital.
