Are you going to keep your baby name ideas a secret, or tell people?
I’ve always thought I’d keep ours a secret (this is my first after years of trying and finally IVF - I have had one girl and one boy name in mind the whole time)… but I’ve just found out my sister-in-law is due 4 weeks after me with her second and I’m terrified they’re going to use one of them!
Is there a polite way to ask her not to use these two names or do I need to accept that I can’t take ownership?

That one is a tricky one to navigate.
You could:
A) keep your names quiet and risk the potential that they may choose one of the names you have your heart set on.
B) tell people those are the names you’re considering and have a conversation with your SIL about how much they mean to you and that you’d really appreciate if they didn’t chose those names (this is dependent on how you’re relationship is).
C) don’t tell anyone and accept that they may choose one of those names and pick a name that while it might not be your absolute favourite, it will be perfect for your little one.
My sister is due 4 months before me and we don’t have the best relationship. She’s not finding out the sex and we found out we’re having a boy. She let me know to tell her any that we have our hear set on and she won’t use them
