Im a FTM & my little girl is 16 days old now. We have been formula feeding (Kendamil) from the start…
We currently use Mam bottles on a size 1 teat. We always elevate her during feeds and burp occasionally, however we have noticed more and more that she sounds so phlegmy whist feeding!! To the point where it sounds like she struggles to breathe and also sometimes chokes due to this….
I have no idea why this is happening or if it’s normal or something to be concerned about. (It’s worth mentioning that she doesn’t sound congested or phlegmy before or after a feed - only during)… I thought it may have been to do with the flow on the teat, however we have tried size 0 which she finds too much work/too slow, so have kept with size 1… which at times she seems to find too fast and ends up choking occasionally!? I feel like I’m going to lose my mind over this…. Is this normal newborn behaviour?
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this something that resolves on its own as she gets older?

Maybe she’s nasally congested? Have you used some kind of booger sucker on her yet?

I had the exact same thing with my newborn and mentioned it to the midwife and health visitor who both said it was reflux. You will need to go to the gp and get a prescription as there are no over the counter medicines.
If you are still in contact with the health visitor, bring it up and see what they say. X

Mine does this on occasion but seems to pass with burping xx
